“Flow?” Kit calls, into the cave, “Are you in there? You’ve been hiding for days.”  Silence emanates from the dark opening. “Crap, where is she?” The fox angrily sprints of into the woods, headed to the outskirts.
“Kit...” Flow sighs, “I thought I told you to leave me alone.” She is sitting on the edge of the woods, staring at the moon.
“How did you know I was here?” Kit says from behind a tree. She steps out from behind the tree.
“Come on,” Flow giggles, “you aren’t very sneaky.” Flow stands and turns to meet Kit’s eyes. Her stomach has a small bulge to it. “Now what the hell is so important?”
“I...I just thought you were still moping around.” Kit stutters. She walks forward and nuzzles Flows neck. “I’m sorry he hasn’t returned.” At this, Flow pushed her away. Kit gasps, “What?” Flow growls lightly and glares at Kit. “I’m sorry,” Kit mumbles, “I’ll leave you alone.” She bolts off into the brush, Flow turns back toward the moon and howls.
“I’m right here, you don’t have to call me.” The tree behind Flow screeches.
“Oh, shit!” Flow jumps, “How long have you been there, Zak?”
“Long enough to see how you treated Flow.” Zak sighs and flies down from the tree. Placing a wing on the wolf’s nose he whispers to her, “You need to realize, we are all worried for you.” Flow pushes away. “Come on...”
“Come on what?!” Flow barks, “Oryan left me! He’s been gone ever since I told him I was pregnant!”
“Flow,” Zak states, “that was a week and a half ago. You still have over a month and a half before the pups arrive. Give the wolf some time.” Flow bursts into tears and falls to the ground. “I didn’t want to upset you more by telling you this, but...” Zak hesitates, “I’ve been following Oryan since he left. He’s just moping around his forest.”
“What?” Flow snaps, “You knew exactly where he was this whole time and you’ve done nothing!? I thought you cared!” Flow stands abruptly and jumps into the trees before Zak can react. Zak looks up and screeches loudly.
“What is it, sir?” A little robin tweets.
“Andrew,” Zak orders, “keep an eye on Flow, I’m going to go have a talk with Oryan.
